M.N. Makarova has worked at the Saint Petersburg State Medical Academy named after I.I. Mechnikov since 2003. She was employed by the Saint Petersburg State Institute of Technology as a professor of the Department of Microbial Synthesis Technology in 2013–2014. She worked as a professor of the Microbial Biosynthesis Department of the Saint Petersburg State Chemical and Pharmaceutical University in 2017–2021. M.N. Makarova was the academic supervisor for 3 BSc, 1 MSc, and 4 PhD students.
